Duro Saulan is the perfect travel designer if you want to experience the real Croatia, not just crowded Croatia along the coast. With almost 20 years industry experience, including ten years with his own business, Duro has always pioneered experiential travel in his homeland.“For example, we created a food trip around the Adriatic in honour of Anthony Bourdain. From Dubrovnik to Venice it was 900 kilometres of food and meeting the locals who prepared it.”Croatia has been a tourism reliant country since he was a child yet Duro remains surprised that so much of the country’s interior is undiscovered. Whether it’s privately escorted overland trips, villa rentals or yacht charters, Duro tailors everything about every trip.“Dubrovnik has always been a touristic destination, even if it wasn’t known in the US or Asia. Growing up in Croatia I learnt about providing hospitality and what types of tourism made visitors the happiest.”Fast forward to today and that’s experiences such as truffle hunting in Istria, private wine tasting in Pelješac and private Game of Thrones tours in Dubrovnik & Split. For Duro it’s about the details and the path less traveled, epitomised by his own travel preferences.“I love road trips and recently spent a month on a bucketlist trip around America. With a road trip you can see and experience so much more, so much that is surprising and unknown.”
