A multi-hour hike to the caldera of an active volcano. A trek through plains home to any number of herbivore species. Then a scramble over the steepest sections.
Steam rises from vents within the walls of a crater with a circumference of more than a mile. Vistas stretch across much of central Kenya from a height of almost 2,800m/9,000ft.
This is a wonderful opportunity to explore the Great Rift Valley and its volcanic origins. On most days you only see a couple of other hikers along the trails.
