Sunrise is almost always spectacular in Indonesia, but Toraja deserves special mention. Set off early and drive to Lolai, a Kingdom Above the Clouds, where you can admire how the clouds roll softly across the mountains.

After sunrise you’ll cycle downhill to Riu Village, where a Torajan brunch is served in a villager’s house. Keep peddling, to reach Lokomata Stone Graves and Bori Megaliths, and then finally, arrive in Batutumonga.
