The feeling of being out in the wild is inescapable, as you feel the breeze pass your ears. You are seated high in the back of an open-air jeep driving amongst the thick vegetation of Kaziranga National Park in India’s rugged Northeast region.
You scour the greenery, looking for the one-horned rhino as well as tigers, elephants, jackals and monkeys. The area is home to two-thirds of the world’s one-horned rhino population and sighting more than one of them is practically guaranteed.
It’s the perfect escape from India’s cities and you’ll be relieved to hear the sounds of rustling leaves and fluttering insects, rather than car horns and constant chatter.
