Take a slow, meandering journey through the foothills of the Himalayas on a century old train, and you’ll soon realise why it’s one of Himachal Pradesh’s highlights. This 96km single track railway trundles around the slopes from Kalka to Shimla through old tunnels and thick forests.
The train may be slow, but it allows you to take in the incredibly beautiful scenery of the area. If you prefer a shorter ride, then you can take the two-hour journey between Kandaghat and Shimla instead. Either way, you’ll thoroughly enjoy this serene moment on a UNESCO World Heritage listed railway.
