At the southern tip of the Americas, a small, barren island holds a surprise – oodles of penguins.
On Magdalena Island, many thousands of Magellanic penguins wander free in their natural habitat, nesting in the silty ground and making periodic forays into the Straits of Magellan. And you can walk among them.
Travel to the island by private boat and visit parts of the island not as easily accessible by the popular ferry. Move among waddling penguins and make eye contact as they lounge in their nests.
These adorable animals have no fear of humans and are likely to come out to greet you!
