Carretera Austral is one of the world’s most scenic highways. Stretching over 1,000 kilometers through the Chilean south, this route is a cyclist’s dream.
Pass sprawling turquoise lakes, hanging glaciers, snow-capped peaks, plentiful fjords, lush forests, and plenty of authentic Chilean communities.
The highway is only occasionally paved, with long stretches of gravel. It’s also very remote. The largest city en route has a population of under 50,000 and you will go for days without coming across any communities at all.
Cycle the entire length or choose a segment. Along the way, your private guide will identify prime accommodation and highlight potential side-adventures—anything from hiking and fishing to cultural tours.
