This stunning temple is believed to have been built as long ago as 323 A.D., making it one of the oldest temples in Nepal. Inspect the temple’s wonderful carvings before heading back to Kathmandu.

After the Earthquake Kathmandu Cultural Tour

A 2015 earthquake devastated much of Nepal, including huge sections of Kathmandu. Explore the city’s unique culture and discover how it’s recovering from a disaster that leveled buildings and left nearly 9,000 people dead.Marvel over centuries of history encapsulated in Kathmandu Durbar Square, the ancient home of Malla kings. Visit the temple of a living goddess, the Kumari. Selected according to strict criteria, the Kumari goddess is a prepubescent girl worshipped as a divine figure. It’s also a worthwhile destination of its own, with friendly locals and stunning views dominated by the Annapurna massif and the dramatic Machapuchare.Reach the town from Pokhara, with a scenic drive through hilly communities. Disembark at Kimche and begin your hike. Take your time and enjoy views of the Annapurna range and the rich green valley below. Move along trails used by locals, occasionally yielding to convoys of loaded pack animals. Get a feel for the region’s bucolic lifestyle, moving ever onwards to bigger views.

Paragliding Over Pokhara

Scenic Heli Flight to Annapurna Base Camp

Annapurna’s south face is among the most imposing mountain vistas on the planet. Treking to Annapurna Base Camp to view the peak takes roughly a week, but you can get there in under an hour. Mountain Bike the Annapurna Circuit

Incredible views and dynamic terrain make the Annapurna Circuit, which circumnavigates the massif, one of the world’s premier mountain biking destinations.Work for your views, feeling the burn in your legs and lungs as you pedal uphill for yet another thrilling ride past glaciers and boulder fields. Enjoy the view from 5,416 meters at Thorung La before flying down to the holy pilgrimage site of Muktinath.Annapurna is the best area in Nepal for alpine biking, as the trails enable you to cover large distances, yet you’re surrounded by 7000-metre peaks. Choose a portion of the circuit for a day or two of biking highlights, or complete the entire loop as a multi-day adventure.

Trekking in Langtang Valley

Rumored to be the route once traveled by a Sherpa in pursuit of a wayward yak, Langtang Valley is a mostly protected region just north of Kathmandu. Leave the city and arrive easily at a world dominated by hills and mountains, valleys, and alpine lakes. The Rapti River cuts through the northern part of Chitwan National Park, 950 square kilometers of protected habitat for a rich assemblage of wildlife. Move quietly along this waterway, listening to paddles dip into the water and keeping an eye out for wildlife.Over 500 species of birds call the park home, including egrets, storks, and kingfishers along the water. Watch for spotted eagle: this threatened species comes here to breed.Crocodiles sun themselves along the banks. Their eyes follow as you pass by, in search of the park's larger mammals, including antelope, rhinoceros, and tigers. To paddle close to an elephant or rhino is one of the great yet unknown highlights of Asia travel.

Chitwan National Park protects over 950 square kilometers of lush forest, marshes, and alluvial grassland, providing habitat for some of the world’s most magnificent creatures.With over 600 one-horned rhinoceroses in the park, you’re virtually guaranteed to see one as you tour its expanse in a private Jeep. More elusive is the Bengal tiger, hiding its orange and black stripes among the foliage. Boisterous songbirds fill the air with exotic music as you continue onward, spotting deer and antelope, and wondering whether a tiger might be watching them as well.
