A mammoth. A dire wolf. A sabre-toothed cat. You will meet them all, and others, in the George C. Page Museum. Your private guide will tell you all that is known about these animals, trapped and preserved in the neighbouring tar pits dozens of thousands of years ago.
Outside the museum, your guide will show you the tar pits themselves. You will learn how these surprising natural reservoirs of asphalt were formed. And you might find yourself a bit scared to face a live-looking mammoth — or some other prehistoric animal.
They are just life-sized models, but are they convincing! Prehistoric people didn’t have an easy life as this guided tour will reveal.
