Discover a typical Portuguese windmill. 

Now there are modern machines for grinding grain, too many old windmills have been abandoned in Portugal. It’s sad to see the small pointy buildings, devoid of sails and half-ruinous, dotting the hilltops.

But not this one. You will see it at work (if there’s any wind) and your host will show you inside and explain the machinery. You will then learn to bake local bread with flour ground between the millstones. 

And in the restaurant next door you will enjoy lunch in a traditional Alentejo ambience.
