Sand dunes surround the tiny coastal town and you can ride a quad bike across them. You can take a sandboard down them. You can follow them as they whip into Luderitz and turn its suburbs into abandoned sand-strewn streets. 

You will meet a diamond dealer and understand why diamonds are so important here. Strange landscapes will dominate the day and you will feel you are far from everywhere, on the edge of the world, as if in a scene from Star Wars.
