Swakopmund can feel like a turn of the 20th-century Germany, with palm trees and sand dunes. Beyond the coastal town’s pretty facades you can’t miss the enormous mounds of sand.
Out here there is the highest sand dune in the world. Or so they say. Dune 7 rises almost 400 metres from the desert below and you will sand board down it.
Start with smaller, easier dunes. Learn how to control your speed and carve epic turns. Tumble off. Roll in the sand. Then start again.
You don’t walk with this dune boarding experience. A quad bike takes you to the summits, so you can focus on boarding, not climbing in the sand and sun.
