Hong Kong the country is actually a series of islands, most of them tiny and offering a complete change of pace to the chaos of Hong Kong Island. 

Step on a private boat at Victoria Harbor and the frenzy of the city seems to disappear almost immediately. 

Lantua, Cheung Chau and Lamma Islands offer beautiful beaches and easy hikes to green look out points. Each has a traditional village-cum-harbor which immediately presses an impression of heritage and temples rather than skyscrapers. 

You’ll find good street food and sunbathing in all three of these, before returning to Hong Kong Island on your private boat.
