Visit Arles in April or September. You will live a popular festival with a variety of bloodless bull spectacles (at least for the animals), live music on the streets, and general excitement. 

Witness the running of bulls in the streets, with the young people straining to run faster than the animals. In the Roman amphitheatre, watch a show where the participant must snatch a rosette from a bull’s horns. Join the local crowd at the races to root for your favourite horse.
