A sheet of ice stretching three quarters of the way across Greenland. One of the world’s great mysteries and unfortunately one of the places undergoing greatest change. The Greenland Ice Sheet is disappearing but it still covers more than 1.5 million square kilometres. And in some places it’s over three kilometres thick!
Fly over this epic expanse on a scenic helicopter flight. Crevasses and cracks scar the landscape. Here the colours flit from sparkling white to turquoise and then a darkened abyss. From the air you can track ridges and peaks, even polar bears on their journey. Then you will touch down and hear the crunch of ice beneath your feet. From the remote landing spot there is nothing but ice in all directions, a remarkable scene to remember so many years from now.
This scenic helicopter flight and landing is only possible as part of a multi-day Arctic cruise on the Ultramarine.
