For centuries the Lozi people have lived alongside wildlife, upon an epic open grassland. They fought off colonialists and poachers, and now they’ve opened their ancient land to tourism.
Tsessebe move in glorious herds. Blue wildebeest and red lechwe dot the plains. Roan antelope and oribi graze as you drive past. Eland stamp their feet to keep some hyenas away.
Now wild dogs. And a distant lion roar. Liuwa Plains remains something of the unknown. There is only one camp and only two flights coming here every week (you can also consider an air charter).
You can be among the first tourists, the first foreigners even, to safari in this magnificent world. Don’t expect five-star luxury, but wow, it is special to be out here.
