Birds sit statuesque on ashen branches. Bats appear like fossils along the shore. Sometimes you can see the bones of an antelope here as well. 

Mostly you see pink, the entire link painted by around 2 million lesser flamingos. Such a wildlife bonanza forms a phantasmal landscape, of bright colours and ghastly scenes. Along the shore you’ll see that some of the birds really are statues. The lake is so alkaline and salty it literally freezes those who stay too long.

Lake Natron can be a challenge to get to but it’s one of the world’s most unusual landscapes, especially if you seek to take unique photos.
