Slipping the lines from the rugged shores of False Bay as the sun rises over Simon’s Town, your expert team of mariners will lead you into open ocean from among the vistas of Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope, to where large numbers of pelagic birds gather effortlessly on the wing.
The birds are attracted by the bounty of Atlantic and tropical marine fish brought here by plankton blooms that form where the cool Benguela and warm Agulhas currents meet.
It creates a rare chance to witness open-water birds including skua, petrels, and four species of albatross in their natural habitat.
